Prof Martill: Remarkable Fossils: From Egg Yolk to Dinosaur Dung

A majority of fossils are the remains of hard parts or organisms, fossil wood, fossil bones and teeth, fossils shells. But sometimes the softer bits of plants and animals are preserved, and in remarkable detail.

This talk examines some of the more remarkable, and unlikely things that have been found in the fossil record from egg yolk, to dinosaur pooh, and much more in between.

This image shows a 100 million year old fish that choked to death on its breakfast - a smaller fish of the same species!
